I have some strange thoughts about a MSND. Why does Demetris love Hermia when he has been sleeping around with Helena. Why does Helena think that Hermia is better looking than her? So far I am understanding the book. The pace we are working at is good but i just want to see what happens with Helena, Demetris, Hermia, and Lysander, and who marries who. Well at first I thought it was going to be kinda boring and not fun at all but my mind has changed a little over time. Well I think it would be fun if sometimes we could actually act out the play to give us more of a visual but other than that everything is going good.
When we discuss MSND I understand it better then if I was left to read it alone. I think the pace we are reading is working for me. I like the book it is interesting in some parts like when they were figuring out Hermia's punishment. The book is better than I thought, I thought it was going to be really boring. The book can get boring in some parts just like any other book thought. If I were to understand the book better, I would have to use the vocabulary on the side page because it tells me what some of the words mean that they wouldn't think is in my vocabulary.
I like Mid Summer Night's Dream so far. It is a compelling and somewhat funny. I am understanding the reading so far. The pace we are going at is steady and I want to keep this same pace. The book is a lot better than I thought it was going to be. It is funny. I thought it was going to be really boring because it is Shakespeare. I have learned that Shakespeare is not as boring as everyone thinks he is. I don't know what we could improve because I like what we are doing right now. Reading Shakespeare has been a good experience for me.
So far as we have been reading MSND it has been good and I understand the material. It has been a great story as well as a good learning material. When we read if I have any questions they are answered when we stop. The pace we are reading is nice and easy to understand. MSND is fairly good so far. It is exactly what I thought it would be. I knew how it would be because I have seen the play. For it to be a better experience I don't really no what we could change to make it better. I like how everyone has a part to read. I think MSND will be a good play in the end.
So far I think I like the book and the idea. I really like that we go through the meanings and then we go back and read it to understand it better. I thought that this book would be super boring...but it kind of isn't. It's actually pretty good. I like that we talk about whats going on and I think this is helping me like it more and more. I was very surprised when we first got into the actual play because the language is so different from today's. And the phrases are also different and...odd. But it plants a very good image in my head and I hope others as well. Although we might have to pick up the pace reading it, otherwise we might not finish it before school gets out.
I am understanding MSND. It is very fun to read. At this pace I am understanding what is happening so I would like to satay at this pace. This book is a lot better than i had expected it to be. It is fun to read it out loud and it helps me understand it. If we went faster I would be extremely lost and confused. When you explain something it all comes together for me so when we read the pages I know what's happening. There isn't much more that would make it better. The only thing i can think of to make it better is getting more people to read out loud. These are my thoughts on MSND.
MSND is way better than I thought it would be. I thought it would be a horrible book but it's not. The pace it just fine it is not going painfully slow or way to fast. I do get the whole point of each Act but some of the wording is a little bit hard to understand. I can't think of anything right now that would make it a better experience, I might later on in the book but not at the moment. What makes it better than I thought it would be is that in some of the parts it makes me laugh, I didn't think that would happen in this book. Another thing that made it better was that I did not think that I would understand it at all, but I do understand most parts. The only thing that I really don't like about it is that it is written in verse. I can not stand books like that. I would rather have the books I read have the story on both pages and in a story form. But overall the plot of the story is really good so far.
So far MSND is really great. There is somethings that still don't make sense. Why would Helena tell Demetrius that Hermia and Lysander are going to escape. If she does Demetrius will catch Hermia and marry her and not Helena. If Helena doesn't tell Demetrius though, then she can most likely get married to Demetrius. I'm understanding a lot. When I'm told about what stuff means when I don't get it makes a lot of a difference to me. The pace we are reading at is just right. The pace is not to fast and not to slow. This book is one of the greatest books I've ever read. It's better than I could have ever thought. Nothing can happen that would make this book better.
I think MSND is interesting. The pace we are reading at is just fine. At first I thought that Shakespeare would be really hard to understand. Now that I have started reading MSND I find that it tis not so bad after all. I think that the play is very entertaining. I can't wait to see what happens in the forest with Hermia and Lysander. I also want to know what Demetrius will do after he finds out they have run away. I don't think there is anything we need to do to make it a better experience. I do however like reading in class so we can discuss what happens in the book.
A Midsummer Night's Dream has been far better than I thought it would be. I was expecting it to be this horrible, boring book like you hear it is from high-schoolers, but it isn't. It is also pretty easy to understand, once you get the rhythm of Shakespeare's writing techniques. I do have to say, though, that it is easier to read scene 2. I think we are reading at a good pace, because it seems like pretty much everyone is understanding what things are saying. I like reading MSND, because it is like reading a soap opera from 500 years ago. It is pretty funny, and the way I get all of this is how ironic all that is happening is. I am not sure what we would need to do for it to be a better reading experience. Shakespeare really isn't all that bad. What I don't get about it though, is why does Hermia's father still want her to marry Demetrius, when he knows he has slept around with Helena? And then, Theseus is just a happy little man about this all, just because he is getting married about it.
I think I am understanding the book pretty well and I understand what's happening. I like the pace we are going because it is about a medium pace. It's not too slow and not too fast. It is better then I thought it was going to be. Once you can understand whats going on it's not so bad and it has a good story line. It's kinda fun to see how things worked back then. Some of the ways we could make it a better experience is having group work and fun activities that help us to better understand the book. Maybe make it a little bit more enjoying for us to read. I am excited to see what happens in the rest of the book.
A Midsummer Night's Dream is a better book than i thought it was going to be. I thought I wasn't going to understand the book but I do understand it for the most part. I like the way the people talk. I like how Shakespeare put the meaning of each character into there name. The pace is going just fine for me right now. I think more PEOPLE need to participate in class discussion. It is getting old seeing the same 6 or 7 people talking.
I think that a Midsummer Night's Dream is actually a good book to read, after you get past the sentences that you can't understand. As we get farther into the play, I am understanding it more because now I am used to the format that he wrote in. I actually understand most of the phrases and only need help on a few. I really like the book already. When we get farther in the book, I think I will like to read it even more. I think we are reading a pretty good pace. I wouldn't mind if we took it a little bit faster though. I like reading it a lot. It's better then I thought it would be. At first I thought it was going to be so boring and it would take forever. However, it's really not that bad at all. It is turning out to be an entertaining book actually, and I am glad we are reading it.
MSND is pretty good so far. Its tough to understand it at first. MSND is kind of tough to read for me. The pace is slow, but I need the extra time we take to fully understand the true meaning of the book. I think it would be much easier to understand the play if we saw it performed. Other than watching the play I think time will help me understand it. This book is just fine, but I am having a little trouble understanding it. MSND is good so far. I think it will become easier to read as our knowledge of Shakespeare's writing style improves. Also we will be able to translate his writing much easier and faster. Overall the book is okay so far.
I agree with Isaac. We need to see more and more people in CLASS discussion and more people that volunteer to talk in parts.
So far, i think I,m getting it. the pace isn't too fast or too slow. i kind of like it, but I,m not so crazy about it, admittedly it is better than I thought it would be. In order for me to really get into it though, it would need to have some action. Right now it's just a couple lovers who can't marry who they want. My personal favorite kind of writing is a fantasy, writing with mythical creatures like dragons. Although, I really wouldn't expect Shakespeare to do that kind of thing. So, if I don't find that kind of thing in this writing, I wouldn't be too disappointed, but still a little action wouldn't be bad.
I think that the story is great and it really gets your mind thinking about Shakespeare himself. The pace is not too fast but the I'm understanding it which is the point. I like it but this is like the stories that I grew up reading, so I can not say for everyone else. I don't think that there is anything else that could help me understand it better than I already do but it might make it easier if we could connect more of the story to real life. I like how we each read giving different voices to the character though because you can almost imagine what is going on as if you were standing right next to the characters themselves. Another positive thing that has helped me is the character chart drawn on the board. It is easier to understand what is going on to everybody. I also like the way you explain it, because it makes the story seem a lot funnier than it is. I can read it too my family and they don't get why I'm laughing. It's nice to know something that no one else can understand. I really like the way i you explain the story and i don't want you to change the way your teaching.
This is a good start to the story and I am kind of enjoying it. I am not really understanding MSND so far. The way they talk it is really confusing. The words they use some of them I don't understand even when I look to the page on the left. I think the pace we are reading at is just right. At first I thought that we were going to fast but now I am starting to pick up on it. It also helps a lot that they put some of the hard words on the left or I would be so confused. I think we need to make the kids that don't participate read some of the parts. I also think that we need to change the parts to some other people. Overall I think that this is a good start to the story.
I, for the majority of the time, I do understand the book, also with the whole pace thing... I don't think we could ever go TOO slow in this book because it is difficult to understand and everything; but I do like the pace we are currently at and hope to keep it that way. I hope you guys all think the same.
I actually do like it and it is better than I thought. I thought we were all going to be falling asleep like I always see on TV when I hear the phrase "Shakespeare"... It's kind of interesting. There are so many morals in the book that it is unbelievable. I hope to learn from some of them. "]
I think for an even better experience, it needs to be more understandable for faster and more fluent reading. I like his language, but I'm not from the 1500's and I think if I WAS I would understand it better. "]
I have liked the book better so far more then I expected I would. Some parts are a little hard to understand but it helps a lot that we are reading slowly and discussing the content in the book. It would be a lot harder to understand if we just flew through the pages nobody would understand what was going on. Shakespeare's type of books aren't my favorite but it is still interesting to read. I expected the book to be boring and confusing but it has not been too bad at this point. I think as long as we take it slowly and make sure that we understand the book it will be a good experience.
MSND has been a rather dramatic book so far. But I guess I shouldn't expect any less from Shakespeare. There is already conflict, and Hermia is causing it. It amazes me how women are treated at this time. They are treated as property, not people. It seems wrong that anyone should have the right to decide for someone else. Lysander and Hermia are causing so much trouble.
